My Las Vegas Story
I completed a new manuscript and its prime edit. I have a few final edits to complete and then it will be another manuscript in the breadbox.
My Las Vegas Story is a romantic historical novel, a commercial novel, set against the backdrop of 1930s Nevada. The story alternates between two protagonists: John Christian Smith, a Boston-born civil engineer in route to a prestigious position in Los Angeles and Mary Faye Kimball, a rebellious young Mormon woman fleeing her controlling father. Set in 1931 against historical events like the Great Depression, Nevada's legalization of gambling, and the Boulder Dam construction project, the novel explores themes of identity, independence, freedom, and religious conflict, as the American West is changing its landscape during a pivotal time in history.
I'm off to the Tennessee Writers Workshop in late April and will be promoting Echoes of Revolution. The work involved in writing My Las Vegas Story has been substantial and I have not been able to update this website to the extent I hoped, therefore this News Flash, but I will get to it soon. Please sign up for future contact. My best to all.
It’s a website update time. Hopefully you are aware of my background. If not a short recap, I’m an aspiring author, relating my life experiences in Iran, the Middle East, and around the world through contemporary historical fiction. I’m trying to gather pictures of my time in Iran, but I must admit this is no easy task. We did not have cell phones with cameras but Polaroids and 35mm film to be developed–not to mention this was …a long time ago and I’ve moved too many times. Nonetheless, I have included a few and will continue searching, scanning, and posting. I'm going to keep looking for more photos.

Yes, that's me in 1974, Tehran, Iran and my newly bought 1965 Willey's Jeep. The traffic in Tehran was so bad they guy I bought it from would not drive it to the registrars office where we had to get the paperwork completed. In fact, he sold it because he was afraid to drive in the city.
