Myron L. Scoggins has lived the kind of life most novelists only research. He survived the Iranian Revolution, living under martial law in Tehran before the regime forced expatriates to flee. When Iraq invaded Kuwait and the Gulf War erupted, he was present in Saudi Arabia — witnessing firsthand the collision of cultures, political powers, and human resilience that would later shape his fiction.
An international career with Saudi Aramco took him across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia, where he rose to general management, overseeing worldwide high-value energy transportation projects and building relationships across cultures that few Westerners experience firsthand.
In retirement, those decades of living at the intersection of history, culture, and conflict found their way onto the page — resulting in The Black Gold Series and several standalone novels. He is currently seeking representation.

Echoes of Revolution (1978)
Tehran, summer 1978. The streets pulse with revolution. Melina, an Armenian woman who tasted freedom in Paris, fights her father's arranged marriage plans while hiding a forbidden love. Her brother Erik walks the knife's edge as respectable businessman and black-market smuggler. When American expat Adam Hightower guides his sister through the Grand Bazaar on the eve of upheaval, none of them realize how one impulsive decision will entangle their fates with Iran's most dramatic revolution. By Black Friday—September 8, 1978—when martial law turns demonstration into massacre, the cost of love and the price of freedom will be measured in blood.
The Reckoning (1978-1979)
Five months. That's all it takes for revolution's promise to curdle into terror. As the Ayatollah consolidates power and yesterday's freedom fighters become today's executioners, Melina discovers her strength while Adam languishes in Evin Prison facing torture and execution. In a city where neighbors become informants and women's rights evaporate overnight, survival demands impossible choices. The clock is ticking toward the American exodus—and some will escape while others will vanish into Iran's new nightmare.
Empire of Dust (1979-1981)
In London, Adam "Top" Hightower struggles to recover from torture, haunted by the loss of Melina, unaware she survived carrying his child. In Tehran, Melina navigates a deadly landscape where Revolutionary Committees execute rivals to seize their wealth and the Ayatollah crushes dissent. When a ruthless drug cartel demands she marry their heir or face annihilation, she must forge alliances with Kurdish fighters, corrupt officials, and Afghan smugglers—while protecting a secret that could destroy everything. As the Iran-Iraq War erupts and the revolutionary dream dies, two people rebuild their lives half a world apart, never knowing the truth that will one day shatter everything.
The Desert Blooms (1982+, incomplete)
Houston. Tehran. Two lives, one devastating secret. Top writes letters to a dead woman while building a new family in Texas. Melina runs an international smuggling empire while raising the son Top doesn't know exists. As the Iran-Iraq War creates black-market opportunities and a corrupt intelligence officer threatens to expose everything, both struggle to let go of a past that refuses to stay buried. But some secrets have a way of crossing continents—and when they do, the cost will be measured in more than money.
Crude Betrayal (2011)
Adam C. Hightower Jr. inherited his father's oil company years before he was ready—and placed his trust in all the wrong people. When a sharp-eyed accountant from Abilene discovers the CFO has been systematically looting Hightower Oil, their forbidden attraction ignites just as Adam's calculating fiancée moves to eliminate her rival through blackmail and fabricated federal charges. As the company hemorrhages toward bankruptcy and Top's Alzheimer's begins revealing thirty-year-old secrets about an Iranian love affair, salvation arrives from an impossible source: a family Adam never knew existed, led by a strong woman he never knew existed. Some betrayals destroy companies. Others shatter everything you thought you knew about your own family.
Desert Promise – Historical Fiction Romance
Depression-era Nevada, 1931. MIT engineer John Christian Smith flees his father's Boston empire aboard the Los Angeles Limited, where he locks eyes with Mary Faye Kimball—a defiant Mormon woman being forced into marriage with an elderly man. Their electric connection sparks a rescue attempt that ends with John thrown from the moving train into the wilderness, left for dead. When Mary Faye steps off in Las Vegas and begins building a new life in a boomtown of gambling, quickie divorces, and the Boulder Dam project, she must navigate her powerful father's threats and impossible choices about love and freedom. Two hundred miles away, John treks through unforgiving desert, discovering what Mary Faye awakened in him: the courage to choose his own destiny. Some encounters change everything in mere moments—and true love sometimes means letting go so both can bloom.
The Simulations - Metaphysical Fiction (In Progress)
Behind heaven's curtain, a committee reviews seven possible lives for one unborn soul—from puppy love to war hero to homeless rescuer to wealthy loner. As they debate which path Jackson will take, one truth emerges: free will means destiny is built from a thousand tiny moments, and the person we become is never predetermined.
Operation Seward's Revenge – Military Thriller (In Progress)
Christmas Eve 2055. A Russian-Chinese-Iranian coalition invades Alaska. In occupied Anchorage, a saloon owner's carefully maintained neutrality shatters when the soldier she mourned as dead walks through her door—alive, escaped from a brutal prison camp, and married to someone else. As Arctic winter claims Coalition troops and resistance fighters alike, she must choose between the neutrality keeping her alive and a cause larger than her broken heart.
